C.A.S.T. for Kids
Several members of the Midweek Bass Anglers participated in this year's CAST for kids for the purpose of taking a special needs child fishing for a day. The video was created by fellow angler Tai Au.
Apache Lake, April 2014
The club enjoyed a great time at Apache Lake for our two day April tournament. Chilly enough for a sweatshirt in the morning, yet warm enough for short sleeves during the day. Pictured here is Tom Savage with a nice 5 lb. largemouth caught during prefishing. It sure would have been nice to get her to bite on tournament day instead, but still fun to catch regardless. 25 boats fished the day and a half event, with a great barbeque on the night between the two tournament days.
Starting in April, the Midweek Bass Anglers have included a $5 conservation donation to its tournament entry forms. As many of you know, the AZGFD has a renewed commitment to improve bass fishing in our desert lakes. This past week was the first of what will be several stockings of florida largemouth bass in Roosevelt Lake. The AZGFD has agreed to match any donations for bass stockings dollar-for-dollar, up to a max of $50,000. We are hoping to donate $2000 this year, and with the matching funds from AZGFD, this means up to 250 lbs of bass stocked at Roosevelt Lake courtesy of the Midweek Bass Anglers. Make sure to use the new tournament entry forms to take advantage of this opportunity
Bass Stocking Update
AZGFD had their most recent anglers roundtable in Tonto Basin on March 29, where they presented a progress report on the LMBass stocking. Looks like Roosevelt will be getting two stockings over the next couple of months. They are also trying to locate a suitable location for a warm-water hatchery for bass, so we can grow our own fish. AZGFD will match donations, dollar for dollar, up to a limit of $50,000, until June of 2015, for the purpose of bass stockings in our lakes. Midweek Bass Anglers is now accepting donations for this project by including an option on the monthly tournament entry form where anglers can donate. Midweek Bass Anglers will also be donating $100 per month for the next 5 months.
